Our 4th book will be, The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini. Sharon will be hosting this meeting on March 16th at Panera in Maple Grove--5:00 or 5:30.
I went to the library to pick it up and it's on the bookclub booklist--- VERY popular. You may want to put your copy on hold now. Good choice Sharon!
The author also has a website/blog at, http://www.khaledhosseini.com/, if anyone is interested.

My copy is coming soon - anxious to begin! Thanks for a good choice, Sharon.
I was halfway through the book before leaving for Paris - and upon returning home, have read more this weekend. Is everyone else done with it?
I just finished the book last night- I couldn't put it down and I read 100 pages in one shot. Of course then try and sleep after the last 100 pages!
Looking forward to our discussion on it on the 16th!
Hi---
Yes, what a book! Everytime I look at the cover I get a little teary. I would like to pick up his 2nd book but haven't had a chance yet.
Sharon do you have any topics or questions you'd like us to think about for the group?
See you on the 16th!
PS--I will bring the girlscout cookies too.
I will be able to recommend our n ext read, if no one else is planning on it.
Has everyone finished 'Kite Runner'? I followed up with 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' - same author.
Guess I didn't read all the current comments before posting ----I'll bring his next book if anyone wants to borrow it.
I have some ideas...I will post them later.
It is such a compelling story. I am reading it for the second time.
I am anxious to read the next book.
I was thinking of reading a few parts over again too!
I just finished the book last night. I couldn't put it down either. Good choice, Sharon! I haven't chosen a book yet so Teresa I am glad you have one for us. Looking forward to meeting and discussing! I miss all of you after being together for so long.
I have just a few ideas for our discusson.
It sounds like everyone has liked the book. Was there anything that someone did not like?
What is it about the book that drew you in?
Discuss Amir's relationship with Baba.
Why was Amir cruel to Hassan and always demanding that he show his loyalty? Discuss differences between the two boys.
Was there a section in the book that particularly stood out to you?
How were Amir and Baba alike? How did Amir and Baba's relationship change when they came to America.
Add your own ideas!!
Thanks Sharon, this helps me to get thinking....
What is the best time for everyone, 5:00 or 5:30?
I am ok with either....
Whatever time you setup on Sunday is good for me. I'll have the next book to recommend, sounds like that's OK with Barb. See everybody Sunday night.
Let's says 5 pm then...
'The Glass Castle' was recommended to me by a friend who is an avid reader. When I checked Amazon, it had 4-1/2 stars out of five on customer reviews.

See you all Sunday!
Teresa, right before I read your blog note a co-worker was telling me about this book! Weird, huh?
Are you choosing this one?
Yes, I'm recommending 'The Glass Castle' if the group is OK with it - a memoir, but the reviews say she handles it in an uplifting, humorous way. How interesting that someone just mentioned it to you!
I'm interesting in reading/meeting through summer.
Yeah! about Random House - sounds just great.
There is a community book read in Buffalo - offered by the HS Media Specialist - they recommend a Minnesota authored book, community members read it, go on an evening event at the HS, get into groups and participate in student-led discussion, then to the auditorium for the author's presentation and questions/answers. I'm contacting them to recommend Chad - he's had more press - an interesting, wonderful article in the Spring Grove newspaper. Here's their website, the link won't imbed; I'm sure you can find it by searching his name at www.bluffcountrynews.com
That sounds great for Chad....
Your book choice sounds good to me.
