I think the club is going well - reading, reading books you probably wouldn't have read, and then taking the time to get together - success!
It's been a good start, don't you think? I haven't found a good book to offer, but plan to ask some avid reader friends. We also have a great little independent bookstore in Buffalo, may just go in and talk to the owner.
As long as you asked, Patty, the only thing I'd suggest is continuing to include everyone, just in case they've gotten away from checking the blog. It's one more thing for you to do, Patty, but maybe when we choose a book, a group email could go out to the original interested group? If someone doesn't respond, they wouldn't need the personal invite after that. Everyone is so busy, but may be interested, even if they haven't made it to a meeting yet.
Thanks Teresa! I sent an email to everyone with the blog address. Since dates and times change it is easiest to have a common place everyone can access at their leisure since everyone is so busy.
I love the book club. It has me reading and learning new things. It's great to hear everyone's unique ideas about the same book.
One thing I think we could add is the host having a couple of questions to begin discussion. She could even post them on the blog before we meet. This way everyone would have a chance to think about them before hand. This would give us a direction and everyone an opportunity to contribute. Sometimes it's hard to keep up or think of something quick!
What do you think about creating a list of books to read and picking from that? Everyone can put in their ideas. It is had to pick one not knowing if it has been read by one of the group.
My favorite part about the bookclub is being able to talk and think about what I'm reading with other people! It's just nice to be able to say, hey, what did you think about this? Or, what about when that happened?
