The Hidden Diary....

The evening began with "French wine" from Sharon, ham sandwiches, lovely "red" cupcakes from Rachel and bookmarks from Patty for a keepsake. Needless to say, the conversation was quickly turned to the life of Marie Antoinette and we all felt the same--her life was destined from the beginning to end up as it did, the "Queen" to be born into royalty there were no choices for either Marie or Louis--they had to live their lives in a "bubble" and though they were not happy, or rather fulfilled, they had to play the role of King and Queen--even though they would both rather have lived very single lives.

We watched the movie, Marie Antoinette and it helped us to see how futile their lives were and how the ending was inevitable.

Sharon will have the next book club after we return from France---March 23rd. Henry's 1st birthday is on the 24th......would March 16 be better? Sharon will be letting us know what book and where we will be meeting via email.

I had a great time Sunday and I feel like we honored Marie at the same time. Looking forward to the next one!
I think March 23rd is Easter. It's early this year. How about the 16th? You don't have to work around Henry's birthday, that's a sweet thought though :)

I didn't know the 23rd was Easter!

Is the 16th ok with everyone?

Learning more about Marie was great - we all know the obvious, but I never really knew the story. How is she viewed in France now?
Think about all this happening, not THAT long ago.
The 16th works better for me. Once again, don't work around me. Thanks, Pat, for your hospitality and planning. It was a very nice evening!
